No one wants to have zits on their face, especially for the biggest day of your life where there will be non stop pictures taken that you will have on the walls of your home for the rest of your life.
Katie Adair, of Katie Adair Hair and Make-up has been doing make-up for 8 years. She gives us some great tips on how to keep our skin clear for the big day.
Katie’s best tips to keep your skin clear:
“Getting a blemish or 2 is super common due to all of the stress leading up to your wedding day, but there are a few things you can do to help prevent blemishes from appearing.”
-Make sure you are washing your face every morning AND night.
-Always use toner after you wash your face to remove excess debris on the face.
-Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!
-Exfoliating will help the overall texture of your skin
-SLEEP! no skin treatments will work if you’re not getting 8 hours of sleep at night
-Stay hydrated to get a smooth, glowing complexion
What should a bride do before they come to see you?
“I love a bride to show up to her appointment with a freshly washed, toned and moisturized face. One important step most people forget is to hydrate their lips, coming to your appointment with chapstick or vaseline on is going to make a world of difference when it comes time to apply lipstick.”
Make-up can be daunting and scary, especially if you haven’t worn much before. Katie says, ” Don’t go too far out of your comfort zone when it comes to makeup on your wedding day. It’s so important that every brides feels comfortable and secure and sometimes people will try to go a little too far out of the box with their makeup and end up feeling insecure. I truly believe that every single woman is beautiful with or without makeup. I want your makeup to enhance your natural features, not completely change the way you look.
Don’t worry about the small details, pay attention to your groom and enjoy the best day of your life! It goes by way too fast.”
Thank you so much Katie for the tips! Now we can focus less on the zits, and more on the fun.
