Which lady under the political spotlight wore their wedding dress better: Former First Lady Hillary Clinton or wife of business mogul and billionaire, Melania Trump?
Granted, the two women got married a few decades apart, so their dresses are pretty different!
Hillary Rodham married Bill Clinton on October 11, 1975 in their living room. According to the Clinton House Museum, Bill wanted their wedding to be an extravagant affair but Hillary would have none of it. She didn’t even have a dress until the night before when her mother “dragged” her to Dillard’s where Hillary supposedly chose the first dress off the rack.
It was a $53 Victorian lace gown by Jessica McClintock. Above is a replica of the dress located at the Clinton House Museum in Fayetteville, Arkansas. We definitely like the boho vibes this dress embodies!
On the other end of the spectrum, Slovenian native Melania Knauss’ wedding to Donald Trump on January 22, 2005 was a huge affair. They were married at Bethesda by the Sea Episcopal Church in Palm Beach, Florida and then their reception was held at Trump’s nearby estate.
Melania’s dress was by Christian Dior and cost $100,000. The train was 13 feet long and the veil 16 feet long. There were more than 1,500 crystal rhinestones and pearls hand-stitched into the gown! So glamorous! Melania chose to carry rosary beads that were a family heirloom instead of having a bouquet.
Perhaps the most extravagant part of their wedding was the cake, which weighed over 200 pounds and with seven tiers stood at five feet, complete with 3,000 icing roses.
Before Donald and Hillary became political opponents, they were actually friends! The Clintons even attended the Trump wedding in 2005.
So, who wore their wedding dress better? Leave your vote in the comments!
(P.S. If Hillary wins the election, what will we call Bill? The First Gentleman? Your guess is as good as ours!)
